When a disc (cd, dvd etc) has become magnetized, you can never obtain the maximum available sound and image quality from the recording.
Why do optical discs, such as CD, become magnetized?
First, it is thought that an iron ingredient contained in the printing ink of the label side of the disc is one of the causes of magnetizing discs. For example, iron oxide is used for red, yellow or brown ink, cobalt is used for blue or green ink and nickel is used for silver ink. These materials, iron, cobalt, nickel, are called ferromagnetic substances, and they are relatively easy to magnetize.
Second, problems are caused by the use of aluminum used for the recording side of CD. Currently, the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) states that the purity of the aluminum used must be 99.0%. The other 1% contains ferromagnetic substance such as iron, nickel and cobalt. Aluminum is a weak magnetic material, so it is easily influenced by magnetism.
CD players contain magnetic substances, when a disc is played, the rotation of the mechanism, magnet and motor generates a flux which quickly causes discs to become magnetized.
The same problem occurs in CD-R, DVD and MD. In particular MD uses an iron ingredient for the Magnet Catch, so the influence of magnetism is increased. In the worst cases, it is impossible to read signals.
It is impossible to demagnetize your discs completely by other demagnetizers such as Head eraser or Bulk eraser. However, some of these machines may actually induce magnetism.
Head eraser or Bulk eraser can't demagnetize CD, MD or Cables completely because of their shapes or directions. In fact, they magnetize discs in many cases.
From information that we have studied it is easy to see that before a demagnetizing process has been carried out, it is impossible to obtain the highest quality information from a CD or DVD (audio and video signal quality)
Even when you use expensive electronics (CD / DVD players etc), it is impossible to reproduce accurate information that is sound quality for CD, picture quality for DVD, unless you demagnetize the disc. For example amplifiers and loudspeakers never correct signals that have been damaged by magnetization. Your amplifier and loudspeakers will simply reproduce the information that they receive, good or bad signals. Demagnetizing the disc is indispensable if you are to reproduce the music and images to the highest possible quality and to retrieve all of the original information.
TThe Acoustic Revive RD-3 is a wonderful product. It completely demagnetizes optical discs such as CD, CD-R, DVD, MD, and it is easy to use.
If you use the RD-3 and demagnetize your disc, you will find that sound and picture quality are much improved. You will be able to hear aspects of the recording that were inaudible before the disc had been magnetized.

Full effect for all optical DISCS
The RD-3 demonstrates the full effects not only with CD but with all optical discs. It is thought that electronic and information media will shift almost totally to optical discs so it is thought that the value in the use of RD-3 will increase greatly.
. |
. |
.
Here is a list of optical media (present and in future).
. |
●Optical discs that can be used now
CD, MD, DVD, Laser DISC、
Game CD, Photo CD. CD-R,
Video CD, CD-ROM
SACD, DVD Audio, DVD-R, etc.
*The effects of the RD 3 with SACD DVD / DVD Audio are far greater than with normal C D, this is because as these types of optical discs (more accurate) are influence more by magnetism.
●Note!! The demagnetization process of CD-ROM or MD etc. had been performed during their production process.
. |
| The demagnetization process of CD-ROM or MD etc. used to be performed during their production processes. Manufacturers had realized that demagnetization enhanced the capability of Software. However, with increasing price competition, most manufacturers stopped the demagnetization leaving us again with the magnetized products and the problems that go with them. |
The RD-3 has a remarkable effect on digital recording media. With CD-R tone quality improves greatly regardless of the recording device or software.
.
●The effects on DVD and Laser Disc
The RD-3 has also remarkable effects on DVD and Laser Disc.
Picture quality: The RD-3 removes flicker noise leaving clearer and shaper image. A brighter color becomes brighter, a darker color becomes darker, so the contrast of the image becomes clear and more vivid. In addition, each single color becomes more extremely vivid, especially red. Moreover, the natural tone of the human skin is superb.
.
Sound quality:The RD-3 improves audio quality, and increases the level of surround separation and dynamics. You are able to listen to detailed sounds that you never heard before and the human voice is more realistic.
.
These effects on sound and picture quality are more and more evident with increasing quality of equipment used in the system. You can use the RD-3 for video cables, power cables and sound cables which further enhances the effects of demagnetizing.

| . |
After processing equipment, such as video cables, power cables and sound cables by RD-3, the performance of an AV system is greatly improved.
.
Not only do magnetized discs deteriorate the performance in a system, but associated equipment such as magnetized cables, connectors etc have a harmful influence on the sound quality and picture quality.
When an electric current flows through a cable, a magnetic field is generated.
IIf the current stops, the magnetic field should disappear. But the magnetic substances used for cable wires and connectors all contain impurities, so the electric current magnetizes these substances, and this has a harmful influence on the signals or the flow of the current.
It has been said that expensive cable or connectors are useless treasures not until the magnetization problem has been solved.
Other demagnetizers are less effective due to their shape or directions and cannot completely demagnetize cables or connectors. The RD III can be ore effectively used for a wider range of applications including metallic parts and speaker terminals.

1.Measurement data of 1kHz signal
(Not only 1KHZ sine-wave but also other ranges of frequency are showed in graph)
[Display the graph in the other frame]
Before demagnetizing, peaks other than a sine-wave are generated at the 1kHz signal. We considered these peaks as noise or distortion. White blank fields at the 1kHz peak are considered caused by reading errors. And the crests extend crosswise; it is considered that the rise and fall of the sound becomes worse.
In addition, dispersions and irregularities are generated at other frequency ranges than 1kHz. And there are many peaks in the 200 to 800 Hz, range that are considered to be noise and distortion.
After demagnetization, many peaks at the 1kHz and blank fields disappeared, and the 1kHz component becomes perfectly solid. Also crests at the other bands become former and upper edge non-ragged. Number of peaks considered as noise or distortion at 200 to 800 Hz decreased sharply, so we consider that the S/N ratio is improved and the rise and fall of the sound are made quicker.

.
2.Measurement data of the music signal
[Display the graph in the other frame]
With the post-demagnetization graph, the encircled areas, in the vicinity of 20 second in the range of 1 to 5Hz, it clearly shows filled in signal and increased crest height. The amount of information is therefore increased by demagnetization.
It is clear that you are now able to listen to sound that could not be heard before. The heights of the peaks also increase; it indicates that the respective ranges are extended.

noYUMI・・・Reproducing a used music CD before demagnetization
UCYUMI・・・Reproducing a used music CD post demagnetization by other demagnetizer.
RDYUMI・・・Reproducing a used music CD post demagnetization by the RD-III |
At the PWL, value of RDYUMI is lowest, as noise is very low. And each peak level becomes raised when we confirm by analyzer, so demagnetizing a CD using the RD-III, increases the signal level and decreases noise. In addition, distortion decreases very much. On the other hand, it shows that SNR becomes worse caused by generating static electricity or magnetized when the CD is demagnetized using by another product (imported product which uses a method of motor rotation). |
.
4.The effects on CD-ROM
Before demagnetization, read value is 590KB/s with 65 points in total. After demagnetization, read value is 620KB/s with 69 points in total. Read value is greatly increased. The RD-3 therefore has great effects on CD-ROM.
Incidentally, with CD-ROM or RAM, there are occasionally cases where problems are caused while using discs, such as "It is not possible to read" and "It is not possible to write". It may be caused by the damaged surface of the disc or an inferior disc, but it is also caused by a magnetized disc in many cases. In these cases, it is possible that RD-3 can help to recover the disc.

After demagnetization, the total of E22 and E32 decrease very much, which influences sound quality.
6.Summary
The effects of the RD-3 can be proven by data. You will recognize that the discs before demagnetization include noise and distortion, and some of them have sound discontinuity. You cannot obtain perfect sound due to noise interference until you demagnetize discs using the RD-3.CD player. Amplifiers and loudspeakers cannot correct damaged signals, they simply process them.Do you use the RD-3? Or do you still put up with distorted sound and picture quality?「」

Question and Answer
.
Q1. How long will the demagnetization effect last?
A1. Once a disc plays on a CD/DVD player, it becomes magnetized slightly by the magnetic field from the magnet of the motor and pick up driver. So ideally we recommend you must demagnetize your disc by RD-3 before playing the disc. But once you demagnetize your disc, the effects will last over 6 months.
There is no immediate loss of the effect.
.
Q2. When would it better to demagnetize a CD-R or a MD, before recording or after recording?
A2. The best time is absolutely before recording. There are a great effects on the sound quality improvement in disc demagnetized before it recording.
In sound/picture quality, the cheap disc demagnetized exceeds an expensive disc, which is not demagnetized. a cheap disc demagnetized exceeds an expensive disc which is not demagnetized. Also even lower quality recording devices can record at higher quality than expensive devices when using the RD-3.
RD-3 is an indispensable item for digital recording media, such as CD-R or MD.
If you demagnetize your recorded disc before reproducing, the sound quality can be improved further.
.
Q3.Why do other demagnetization devices (head eraser and balk eraser, etc.) have effects?
why?
A3. Consider the shape and the movement of other demagnetization devices. Their points are narrow, so it is impossible to emit a magnetic force without irregularity. And it is difficult to use such devices, you must gradually separate a demagnetization device from a disc, and turn off the switch. When this operation is neglected, it becomes even more magnetized.
The RD-3 is easy to use, and it completely demagnetizes optical discs.
Attenuation characteristics of the RD-3 is excellent.
.
Q4. Is it necessary to demagnetize brand-new discs? Are these discs influenced by magnetism.?
A4. Even brand-new discs may become magnetized in their manufacturing process or at shipment stage. Though there is certainly a difference in the amount of magnetization, most brand-new discs become magnetized. You can find that sound quality becomes finer when you demagnetize a brand-new disc by using the RD-3.
